Description
Lunch on Saturday 21st March 2020 from 12.30pm – 4.00pm
Take the opportunity to meet the Far Ago Hill winemaker Katrina Hill at her stunning Highlands vineyard and learn about her Pinot Gris, Syrosa and Shiraz characterised by the mineral rich soil of the region. Only once a year we can experience this location and dine in the vines, learn about wine making during harvest time, make new friends and enjoy some live acoustic music from Lou Bruce and Craig Hooper.
Lunch honours the seasonal growing cycle showcasing locally grown farmed and foraged ingredients and be accompanied by 2019 Far Ago Pinot Gris, 2019 Syrosa and 2017 Shiraz as the picking season comes to a close.
Wine Harvest Feast Menu from 2019 included Roasted Pumpkin, Feta & Caramelised Onion Tart and Marinated BBQ King Prawns on arrival. Followed by three courses seated in the vines on grazing boards: Dips and Crudités with Seasonal Vegetables as well as Bruschetta Bites and an Antipasto of Local Produce (Bloomy White & Red Curly from Pecora Diary, Salami, Fresh Tomatoes, Smoked Trout and Olives) Then we bring out the main course of Slow Cooked Local Lamb with Middle Eastern Spices and a Yoghurt drizzle as well as Crispy Skinned Roasted Chicken Pieces with Roast Tomato & Basil accompanied by Persian Pumpkin Salad, Brown Rice Quinoa and Vegetable Salad as well as fresh Sourdough Rolls and Pepe Saya Butter. To finish its Mini Far Ago Hill Shiraz and Chocolate Cake as well as Mini Pavlovas with Limoncello/Lemon Curd Cream topped with Blueberries & Amaretto Crumb, Fresh Fruit Platters and Cheese board that included Pecora Diary Mt Jamberoo Blue and Yarrawa alongside a French D’Affinois. We also dried muscatels from Katrina’s Shiraz Grapes – truly a feast worthy of great wines and a wonderful way to enjoy a long lazy afternoon. Dietary requests can also be accommodated.
This is a chance to visit and taste wines that are not available at a cellar door but are pinnacles of the thriving cool climate wines of our region. Guests will be able to pre-order the 2020 vintage at a special event price.
